We had this very high quality reproduction of a John Singer Sargent portrait, in oils on canvas, painted for one of our customers.
Unstretched canvases are typically supplied rolled up in a tube so, before framing it, we first had to stretch it around some stretcher bars. These have specially-designed tension wedges in the corners so that, over time, if the painting ever starts to sag, they can be adjusted in order to 'tighten up' the canvas, thereby maintaining its flat surface.
To achieve a period look, we finished by framing it using a 75mm wide traditional scoop profile moulding with a distressed finish:
