Gold Leaf Frame for Oil Painting

Before fixing this oil painting in to its frame, we first prepared it by stretching it around stretcher bars.

Although our customer wanted a gold frame, they didn't want anything too ornate or detailed given the sober subject matter of the picture.

We chose this 65mm wide scoop profile moulding finished with a gold leaf-effect which further enhances the painting's gravitas, neither dominating it nor distracting attention away from it:
