Hyde Park Pissarro in Closed Corner Ornate Frame

A reproduction oil on canvas of Pissarro's Hyde Park, originally painted in 1890.

To recreate an authentic period look, we framed it using a design from the Victorian range of our Quality English Handmade Collection of closed corner frames, also known as swept frames.

The decoration on these frames, both applied and painted by hand, is made from gesso - Italian for chalk - a thick white, paint-like substance which has been used throughout history to prepare frames for the application of gold leaf as well as to create ornamentation by pouring it into decorative moulds.
