This shirt, covered in players' signatures, which formed part of Tottenham Hotspur's away kit during the 2008-9 season was brought to us for framing in 2016 by a devoted fan who had won it at a charity event.
Wanting to display it in a contemporary way, he decided to go for a simple yet effective shirt layout - with the waist and sleeves tucked in - against a black background with a simple, smooth, mid-grey picture frame moulding.
As with all fabrics that are framed here in Brampton Picture Framing's workshop, no adhesives are used. Instead, we hand stitch shirts in place meaning the process is completely reversible. These are the standards set out by The Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG) of which we are proud members. Over time, low-cost solutions such as adhesives and tapes can damage your valuable shirt.
Although more time-consuming, it means this valuable piece of sporting memorabilia will be held securely in place and never slip or fall inside the frame, which is often the case when using many low-cost framing kits available online which contain just sticky pads or velcro.
The glass is separated from the shirt with a bespoke spacer, cut from the same black mountboard as the background, to create a seamless 'box' effect.
