Map of Iceland framed

This antique map of Iceland was framed here in the workshop by our team of Fine Art Trade Guild qualified framers.

As it was a large map, we needed to choose a fairly substantial frame to support the weight of the glass and backing board, so we chose this stained moulding (ref:201512101).

We added a bespoke mount to the frame to act as a spacer between the glass and map - this prevents anything getting stuck over time. After looking through a few different mount options, we found this neutral green which complimented the colours in the antique map.

Our framers used a conservation hinging tape to keep the map in place, with minimal adhesive touching the back of the paper.
