It's always wonderful to meet a grandma - or grandad! - with a cross stitch for their brand new grandchild.
We get to meet quite a few here at Brampton Picture Framing, and their work is always meticulous.
Once professionally framed, it makes wonderful gift that can be enjoyed at all ages for generations to come, and you can be sure that we treat all the cross stitches entrusted to us with the utmost care.
Almost all of our cross stitches come to us as an unstretched piece of fabric so to begin with, we stretch and lace them around a piece of conservation mount board. Some framers use adhesives to simply stick the artwork to an undermount however these can easily stain and damage the fabric.
Although more time-consuming, the method we use is completely reversible, in line with the Fine Art Trade Guild standards, of which we are proud members.
Together with the customer, we chose a combination of white frame and pink slip from our Confetti range (details below) - delicate colours with a hard-wearing smooth painted finish - perfect for a nursery!
When cross stitches are intended to be displayed on the walls of a child's bedroom, we often glaze them using acrylic safety glass. Specially designed for framing, all our acrylics are at least 2mm thick to offer superior rigidity.
As well as being tint-free, acrylic is also lightweight and shatter-resistant, making it an ideal alternative to glass for frames hanging in places where safety is top priority.
