My approach to the project had its roots in my interest in pattern, and how, historically, it's been used and adapted by different cultures. As prt of this I looked at the stories which form the core of various religions such as Celtic polytheism, Islam and Christianity and the ways these have been represented visually. For this piece, I was particularly inspired by Byzantine art and the art of the early Church. The image illustrates the moment Adam and Eve are cast out of the Garden of Eden by the angels protecting the Tree of Knowledge, after Eve is corrupted by the Serpent and, in turn, corrupts Adam.
